Well, it's been an interesting week in Parliament! And my job in government has meant I've been rather busy.....
The Prime Minister has called an election for Thursday 4th July, with Parliament now been "prorogued" which means it will not sit until after the election. We've tidied off all the parliamentary bits and bobs which is far too technical for this post. And now I'm back in West Wales all geared up for the General Election.
The campaign has started in earnest (more of that to follow!) but first of all I want to say it has been the privilege of my life to be Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire's MP for the last 14 years. I started on this journey nearly two decades ago, and my passion for the constituency has not waned in all that time. Politics is first and foremost about service, and regardless of how people voted, I have always sought to serve constituents to the best of my ability, ably supported by a fantastic team in Whitland and Westminster. Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire has not been completely abolished as a constituency, with my Senedd colleague Samuel Kurtz MS the seat's MS until 2026.
Carmarthenshire-based constituents will have the opportunity to elect me again as MP for Caerfyrddin (Carmarthen). And I'm excited about meeting as many residents as possible over the next six weeks in the north, south, east and west of the new constituency!
