Havard Hughes, the Welsh Conservative Candidate for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr has welcomed the news that Dyfed-Powys Police will be able to recruit 42 extra police officers next year. This is thanks to £100 million of additional ring-fenced funding announced by the Conservative government.
Havard Hughes commented:
We welcome Boris’ move to provide us with additional funding so that we can ensure an increased police presence in Carmarthenshire. We’re suffering an epidemic of rural crime at the moment which needs urgent action.
The Conservative government is giving criminals a clear message that crime will not be tolerated. Carmarthenshire residents want police resources focused on keeping our streets safe – not Labour’s plans to give prisoners the vote.
Rural communities in West Wales are too often forgotten by the Cardiff elite. Wales does not begin and end in Cardiff and Carmarthenshire and West Wales deserve their fair share of resources too.”
